Pregnancy Story Part 1

We found out that we were expecting the day that Peder graduated from college!  I had a bit of an inkling as I had not been feeling well for several days before taking "the test."  As sneakily as I could, I bought a test, took it, and then wrapped it to give to Peder as his graduation gift.  He was both surprised and elated!

"The Test" - It's hard to read but I promise it was positive.

Peder's parents happened to be visiting for his graduation and thus they were the first to learn our happy news!  We decided not to share the news with our other friends until I was able to tell my parents and we planned to wait to tell them in person about a week later. We had chosen not to tell anyone we were trying to start a family and, needless to say, everyone was very surprised but very excited for us!

Deciding to have a baby was a big decision for us.  Everyone says you can't plan things like this but we sure did our best to plan the unplannable!  We essentially had a 2 month window to get pregnant where it would "fit" into my crazy schedule.   I needed to be early enough in the pregnancy to be able to travel in October/November for residency interviews and have the delivery happen at some point between the end of December and middle of February when I had scheduled time off.  Luckily, I was in the middle of my OB/GYN clerkship and was working with Anchorage's local expert on infertility...I got plenty of free advice on getting pregnant!

Everything worked in our favor and our due date was determined to be January 10, 2013 (which happens to be Peder's mom's birthday)!
